Taylar Bordigon, owner of Taylar Made Nails, recently created her own fundraiser in support of the Northern Cancer Fund. Her inspiration? A long-time client, Kim Francis, was diagnosed with breast cancer. “When Kim came in for her appointment and told me she had breast cancer, I knew I had to do something to help. Kim is such an inspiration to me and I am so happy to direct the funds to a good cause.” Altogether, she was able to raise $5,000!
Kim was truly touched by Taylar’s support. “It is so amazing to see Taylar, at such a young age, do something like this for our community,” she said. Kim also spoke highly of the care she has received at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, where she participated in the ‘Look Good, Feel Good’ program. The program, which provides women undergoing cancer treatment with cosmetic, skin care guidance as well as hair alterations was, as Kim said, “an amazing resource our Cancer Centre provides. By the end of the night, you can see and feel the increase in confidence of the women in the room and it is also a good way to meet other people going through similar situations as you. I am extremely grateful our hospital offers this service.”
The funds raised through Taylar’s fundraiser will ensure that the best possible cancer care is available here in Northwestern Ontario. Taylar and Kim would like to thank local businesses who supported this initiative, including Carlo and G Salon, Red River Trade Company, Elegance Medical Aesthetics, Solidity Salon, North Shore Laser Clinic, and Blush Boutique.
