Lahama Naeem is a Citizen of Exceptional Achievement

Lahama Naeem is a recipient of the City of Thunder Bay’s 42nd Annual Citizens of Exceptional Achievement Awards.
Lahama has dedicated herself to serving her community. She has volunteered hundreds of hours with Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre helping with the Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP) and in the paediatric unit. She has also volunteered for United Way and Shelter House. Lahama is an advocate for youth, serving as a student trustee for Lakehead Public Schools. She works hard to be a voice for students who are marginalized or disengaged from school.
As a young Muslim woman, Lahama has also dedicated herself to raising awareness about the Muslim faith and combating Islamophobia in our community. She is an active member of the Thunder Bay Masjid and Lakehead University Muslim Students Association. Lahama’s work has helped Thunder Bay to become a more inclusive and welcoming community that celebrates diversity.
