Sometimes all you want is a place to sit
Members of the Foresters were on hand at the Health Sciences Centre in August to install the four benches that they donated and then took the time to test them out! |

Spend a few minutes outside the main entrance at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre and you’ll observe – it’s a busy place. People are coming and going either from appointments or visiting loved ones and until recently, there wasn’t a ton of seating out front to accommodate those who were waiting for rides or just needed to sit down.

Thanks to Foresters Financial Lakehead Legacy, four brand new benches have been added to the grounds at the Health Sciences Centre, including at the main entrance, the cancer centre entrance, the cafeteria entrance and in the healing garden enclosed in the area between patient rooms.
“I’ve always noticed people standing all the time and decided we needed to do something about it,” said Kevin Herman, Canada Regional Councillor from Foresters. “Thanks to a Foresters Community Involvement grant, we were able to fund the benches, and I’m very happy to see they are been well-used already.”
Added Kevin, “We’re always proud and happy to lend a hand here at the Health Sciences Centre. Along with these benches, we continue to provide hygiene kits in the Emergency Department and doing this little bit extra with the benches seemed, to us, to be a good thing.”
