Have you heard of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation's most exciting event of the year? Chase the Case: A Charity Auction Showdown is taking place Friday, May 30, 2025, at the Valhalla Inn in Thunder Bay, in support of the Northern Cancer Fund for breast cancer.
This dynamic new event brings a fresh level of energy and interactivity to the fundraising experience. Inspired by the popular game show Deal or No Deal, attendees will have the chance to bid on one of 15 silver cases, each containing a unique and valuable prize package. While the prizes will be revealed at the beginning of each of the 3 rounds, their case assignments will remain hidden, adding an exciting element of suspense and strategy. Once all cases are selected at the end of each round, the contents are unveiled and participants claim the prize hidden within their chosen case.
Looking for something specific? Thanks to the generous sponsorship of RBC, participants can “Phone the Banker” for valuable insight into which two cases are most likely to contain their desired prize, adding an additional layer of anticipation and intrigue.
The community is coming together for this event, with the talented Little Details Design working with the magic of Maverick Entertainment Group, to transform the Valhalla ballroom into a game show-style set.
Vince Mirabelli RE/MAX is once again sponsoring the much-loved Bling Blitz, giving one lucky attendee the chance to go home with a beautiful, high-value piece of jewelry for just $20. On top of the Bling Blitz, WestJet has graciously sponsored the Travel Blitz, offering attendees a shot at winning a round trip flight for two on any regularly scheduled WestJet destination, all for a $20 investment.
This evening will be the first to showcase the Valhalla Inn's new catering menu, something both the Foundation's events team and the Valhalla's catering team, led by the Executive Chef, are thrilled to bring to the table. The menu will remain a surprise until event night, but organizers promise it will be one of the evening's highlights.
While the format has changed, the purpose remains the same: raising critical funds for breast cancer care in Northwestern Ontario. Proceeds from this event will continue to support the Northern Cancer Fund, helping to ensure that patients across our region have access to the best care possible—close to home.
