Location Troubleshooting Guide

I cannot access the Thunder Bay 50/50 ticket purchasing website. What should I do?

Please read though the tips below to ensure your location services are turned on correctly. Note that you must be in Ontario to access the site and purchase tickets. If you are in Ontario, find your device in the troubleshooting guide below to help you turn on the proper settings to access the site.

I have satellite Internet. Could that be causing an issue?

Yes,  this is the #1 cause of most location issues. Due to the technology used to get satellite Internet to your home, websites may occasionally think you are in the United States or another Province.

If you have access to a smart phone with data, please turn off WI-FI on your phone and try purchasing tickets at www.thunderbay5050.ca through that device. Since your phone is using your cellular network and not your satellite Internet it should allow you to purchase.

Why does the Thunder Bay 50/50 ticket website require my location?

Per Ontario Lottery & Gaming Commission (AGCO) regulations your current location is required to confirm your eligibility to purchase tickets in the Thunder Bay 50/50. Your device's location services must be turned on to verify your location prior to entry to our online sales platform.

Why am I receiving the following prompt: “https://tbhraffle.5050.central.com wants to know your location?”

The Thunder Bay 50/50 is only available to participants in Ontario at the time of purchase. The location request is necessary to validate that you are accessing our website from within the province of Ontario. Your current location will confirm your eligibility per AGCO regulations.

What if I already selected “Don't Allow” when prompted by my web browser?

Reload your page and your web browser should ask for your permission again. Click 'Allow'. However, if you have specified that you never want to share your location, you will have to go into your settings to allow it. Find your device below to learn how to change these settings:

What if I receive one of the following prompts?

  • "You must allow your browser to share your location to purchase tickets. Please enable location services for this browser and try again."

  • "Location information is unavailable. To purchase tickets your location must be able to be determined. Please enable location services for this browser and try again."

  • "The request to get user location timed out. To purchase tickets your location must be able to be determined. Please enable location services for this browser and try again."

  • "An unknown error occurred while attempting to determine your location... To purchase tickets your location must be able to be determined. Please enable location services for this browser and try again."

These prompts are related to your Location setting. In the past you may have asked your browser not to store your location information. You must change that setting before continuing with your ticket order. See Enable Device Location Services Section to learn more.
