King and Queen of Hearts Fundraiser Keeps ‘Fun' in Fundraising
Published March 2, 2019
Players with the Thunder Bay Peewee AAA Kings and Thunder Bay Peewee Queens found that ‘having fun’ was the ingredient for success in their recent ‘King and Queen of Hearts’ fundraiser held in early February. For two hours, players from each team and their guests participated in a ‘Skate-A-Thon’ with lots of on-ice games, relay races and more. Each player and their guest had to fundraise a minimum of $50 to participate, with one incredible player raising $310! When players stepped off the ice there was a terrific selection of baking available for sale.
Altogether the event raised $4,564 for the Northern Cardiac Fund to bring world-class cardiovascular surgery to our community. The event itself was important, not only for its fundraising, but also for its emphasis on the benefits of physical activity for heart health; something organizers felt was critical to highlight.
Thank you Thunder Bay Peewee AAA Kings and Thunder Bay Peewee Queens for all the heart you put into your fundraising! Together, we’re taking care of our hearts at home.
