A message from Terri
The reality is – normally we’d be gathering together at one of our favourite events of the year – the Resolute Save a Heart Ball.
I’ve heard from so many people how disappointed they are that the Ball can’t take place this year. I get it – I’m beyond upset too. I love getting to welcome you, laugh with you, DANCE with you, and, importantly, make a huge impact for cardiac care with you.
One of my colleagues from the Hospital – Tracie Smith – even showed me her ornate, red-sequined dress she’d bought, specifically for the event. I told her to keep it until next year, because, fingers crossed, we’ll be back to ‘normal’ by then.
Until that time, however, we need to come together virtually to keep the focus of the Resolute Save a Heart Ball front and centre.
The need for funding for our cardiovascular surgery program has not lessened. In fact, because of the worldwide pandemic, the cost of medical equipment needed for this life-saving surgery is increasing.
It’s our time (still!) to bring our vascular and cardiac surgery to Thunder Bay.
So, because I can’t come right up to your table at the Ball, say Cheers! and have a chat with you, I’m asking you here instead.
