It sounded like a simple concept, but as we all know, nothing has been simple in 2020.

Back in May, Balmoral Park Acura announced they would donate $100 for every new car sold to the COVID-19 Relief Fund of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation. Their goal was to sell 100 cars, and, if they reached that goal by August 31, they would double their donation.

When September 1 hit, they were so close - just 2 cars shy of their goal! That didn’t stop the kind hearts at Balmoral Park Acura however, and the Witiluk family decided to generously donate $20,000.

“Our families were born and raised in Thunder Bay and we truly believe in giving back,” said Ryan Witiluk, General Manager of Balmoral Park Acura. “There has never been a more important time to give back and help than right now during these challenging times. This is our way of showing how much we appreciate the hard work of healthcare professionals and how they have dedicated themselves to keeping our community safe. When we began this campaign back in May there was a lot of fear surrounding COVID-19. Truthfully, there still is and likely will be for some time. The opportunity to do something positive raised our spirits at the dealership and, we hope will continue to provide some joy as the funds are used.”

“The Witiluk family, in association with Balmoral Park Acura and Thunder Bay Mitsubishi, are some of the most generous people I know,” said Glenn Craig, President & CEO, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. “Whenever a need arises, they are there. From supporting cardiac care for many years, to now providing this additional donation specific to the COVID-19 Relief Fund, we just cannot say thank you enough for making sure healthcare is a priority in our community. Now more than ever, many of us do not want to leave the ‘bubble’ of Northwestern Ontario, and knowing we have excellent healthcare available to us here at home is very reassuring.”
